4 Simple Ways To Bond With Your Baby

Having a baby can be confusing, frustrating, and scary at times. Becoming a new mom comes with many challenges and a new lifestyle. New moms need additional help in getting to know their baby and developing the skills needed for motherhood. While some find it easy to adjust, others do not.

Below we have listed four ways that will help you bond with your baby and adjust to your new role as mom.

1. Skin-to-skin

Skin-to-skin helps both mother and baby feel more secure. It is a way mothers can bond with their baby and it helps the baby feel safe and warm. Skin-to-skin may also help reduce crying, while also stimulating the baby's senses.

Skin-to-skin contact is one of the most important ways that a new mother can bond with her child. It's a way to connect with the baby and to show love and affection.

2. Look in the mirror together

It’s important to help your baby become familiar with the way they look. Looking in the mirror together is a great way to do this. It also helps you to learn how your baby feels about their appearance.

Looking in the mirror together not only helps the baby become more familiar with themselves, but it also helps them become more familiar with you. Babies might not understand the concept of a reflection but you being there each time will help them feel safe and they will become more familiar with their mom's appearance.

3. Give your baby massages

Massaging your baby can create a stronger bond between you and your baby. It promotes quality time between both mom and baby. Massages also encourage feelings of trust, love, and attachment between mom and baby. It also helps improve your baby's sleep, digestion, and overall health.

4. Talk, sing, and read to your baby

Talking to your baby helps them learn to develop language and communication skills.

Hearing the voice of mom is important for a baby's emotional and cognitive development. It helps the baby feel secure and loved.

As a new mom, it can be easy to get caught up in all the things that you need to be checked off of what is seemingly a never-ending to do list, but it’s important to take these little moments and practice these simple ways to bond with your baby.
